Chris and I have been talking about purchasing a new car for a while now and after the past year with my car we were convinced that we had to purchase this summer, or my car wouldn't make it through another year. So, this week we said good-bye to Ruby05
I have to say that I got a little teary-eyed when I realized that I would never see that car again. When it was time for me to buy my own car back in 2005 I looked at ONE CAR...Ruby. I sat in that car and I just knew. It was more money than I had wanted to spend, so after looking at it I went back to Radford to think it over. (Well, I didn't want to think it over, but I think my mom was hoping I would RE-think it over! hehe) After being back at school for a few days I got a call from my mom while I was out at dinner in Roanoke at Kabuki and she surprised me by saying that her and Aunty Peggy went and test drove it and put a down-payment on it for me! I was soooo excited!!
That first summer in that car was a BLAST. That was also the summer that I met the love of my life. I remember driving back to Radford in August after having met the guy I pined for all summer (my hubs, now) just a few days earlier. I was so confident in my new car, driving to Radford to move into my first apt., with the potential of having my first boyfriend on the horizon. I can actually remember exactly what I was wearing. I'm not one for change, and although I am super stoked/thrilled/excited about my new car I will always cherish the many memories made in old Rubes.
Onto new beginnings...
Here is my new car!!
We ending up getting a 4 cylinder Chevy Equinox! The major selling point was the gas mileage. I don't know where (if anywhere...hopefully somewhere!!!) I will be working next year, but if I have to travel I will need the gas mileage this provides - 22 city and 32 highway...and this can be extended with the "eco-boost" feature. I was a little hesitant about the 4 cylinders because Ruby was 6 and Chris has 8, but it really isn't bad, and it won't kill me to slow down a little while swerving around bad drivers on Broad St. ;) Once Chris and I get around to having kids it will be a great car too. There is plenty of storage room for all the accessories the rugrats require. So, we are very excited about our new purchase! Now, I just need to secure a jobbbbb!!!
Pics from Lucy's party will be up soon...I hope! :)
