Chris and I took Bauer in to the vet on Saturday to check on his ever-graying hair on his tail, back, and nose. The good news is - it is NOT related to his allergies. The bad news is - it will probably only get worse. Well, I guess it's not bad news. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE my dog. More than what is probably considered normal, but the part that quite frankly pisses me off about this whole scenario is that we paid soooo much money for a black lab and now he's going to be a black lab with lots of gray hair! What Bauer's doctor said was that somewhere in his bloodline, probably way way back there was an inconsistency with the 'pureness' of one of the labs. Bauer is AKC registered, so he is pure enough to be considered by them, but not to be in a dog show...which we knew. So that's all fine and good, but I just wish it wasn't happening so early! I guess we should have expected this though. Bauer has always been 'one-of-a-kind', so now he will have salt and pepper hair! No big deal - we will think he's the cutest most perfect and loveable dog everrr. I think he'll go as a silver back gorilla next Halloween.
