really?

I am becoming desperate these days and am trying to find any and all teaching positions that are open.  During my search today I came across a local private school and emailed them to inquire about any open positions and this is the email I got in response.  (I took out the school's name even though I am so shocked and appalled I shouldn't care.)

Really? Now, I am well aware that many people in this world still believe that being gay goes against their religious beliefs and I realize this is a private Christian school, but did they really just group homosexuality with adultery, fornication, physical violence, and abusive behaviorWowzers.  It truly saddens me that these judgmental, intolerant people are teaching and leading the way for the kids of our future.  Needless to say I will NOT be responding to this email.  I was just so sickened I had to share.

I shall now continue to pester the public schools until I can secure a teaching job where I can teach respect, tolerance, and kindness in my owl themed classroom.

fireman chris

The recent storms did bring one "good" thing our way which was Chris' first opportunity to pump a fire!  He finished the pump operator course a while ago, but his station doesn't get many fires.  I know it sounds insensitive to celebrate a fire, but this was an old building and no one was hurt.  Of course I feel bad for the person who owned the building, but I make myself feel better by convincing myself they got a nice, big check from the insurance company! :)

Of course Chris wanted to show me the building, so we drove down a couple days later to take some pictures.

Chris says now that he has pumped a fire he wants to be the one going in  next time.  Buuuut I prefer he just mans the pump OUTSIDE of the fire!
