really?

I am becoming desperate these days and am trying to find any and all teaching positions that are open.  During my search today I came across a local private school and emailed them to inquire about any open positions and this is the email I got in response.  (I took out the school's name even though I am so shocked and appalled I shouldn't care.)

Code of Conduct:

All Staff and faculty members of the School are required to adhere to this Code of Conduct. Moral conduct, social relationships, physical self-control, and financial affairs must be in keeping with I Timothy, and thereby above reproach. Failure to uphold this code will subject the employee to disciplinary measures and possible dismissal.

All employees must lead a Godly life, both on and off campus. This not only applies to employees’ individual manners of living during the school calendar year, but throughout the summer holidays as well.

A.  Abide by the requirements of I Timothy, chapter 3.

B.  Be willing to submit to counsel from those in authority.

C.  Maintain a neat and modest personal appearance.

F.  Use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and non-prescription drugs is failure to uphold the Code.

Really? Now, I am well aware that many people in this world still believe that being gay goes against their religious beliefs and I realize this is a private Christian school, but did they really just group homosexuality with adultery, fornication, physical violence, and abusive behavior?  Wowzers.  It truly saddens me that these judgmental, intolerant people are teaching and leading the way for the kids of our future.  Needless to say I will NOT be responding to this email.  I was just so sickened I had to share.

I shall now continue to pester the public schools until I can secure a teaching job where I can teach respect, tolerance, and kindness in my owl themed classroom.
