As most of you know, I had a hell of a time finding a teaching job this year. Looking back I think it pretty much screwed me that I didn't have my teaching license in hand until late July. (Thanks a lot, Mary Baldwin and VA DOE!) But, luckily I DID receive a teaching offer and accepted and it is for first grade! That's the good news! The bad news is that the teaching job is 1 1/2 hours away from my house...in Manassas...Park. I've made the hike now for 3 weeks and I'm still feeling pretty good. It sucks not being able to see Chris as much as I would like, but at least I am loving my job and am getting settled in. I will post more on my class later. Today I have a couple of photos that I snapped before my little munchkins came in and wreaked havoc the first week. ;)
How cuuuuuute is my alphabet?!
My calendar area
My tree and jobs area thanks to Betsy's help!
These are "Secret Stories". Its a whole program to help students learn their letter combinations. It is supposed to be very successful, but it's soooo ugly.
Lots of color, but not too much clutter! I hate the classrooms that are full of.....stuff.
Word wall for high frequency words
Lunch choices!
My reading/literacy centers "corner". I didn't have a corner, so I had to make due with this area!
How cute is my rug? $30 from Homegoods!
Like I said, I will post more on my class of 26 students later. Much has already happened in the first week, so this should be a verrry interesting year! I'm just thankful for the job!
Your classroom looks wonderful. I hope all is going well with your first year of teaching.
